Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM (closed for lunch 12:30-1:30) .We are not open on the weekends/holidays.  We are on the exchange from 5 PM to 8AM .

Prescription Refills: 

When you need to have a prescription refilled, please contact your pharmacy at least 5 days before you run out of medication.  They will contact us typically by fax or internet and we will fax/internet the refill form back to them.  If you need a mail-in prescription, please notify us in the Patient Portal or call us 412-8184 and we will fax a prescription to your pharmacy. If you prefer to use mail-in pharmacy, please provide your mail-in pharmacy fax number.  

Sample Medication: 

If you have received samples from this office, please follow the directions.  You can then fill the accompanying prescription if the samples were effective and did not cause any side effects.  Please do not call the office for more samples.

Questions (412-8184):

Questions regarding your child’s health can be asked by telephone or on the Patient Portal. You will receive an answer within 24-48 hours Monday-Friday. Questions are not answered on the Patient Portal on the weekends until the following Monday.


Results of Tests (412-8184):

You will be notified in 5 to 14 business days of any abnormal laboratory or radiology test results.  Results that are done at “send-out labs” may take as long as 14 days for the results to return. You can view lab results that were done at Quest, but not at other labs, in the Patient Portal. Radiology results are not yet available in the Patient Portal.  If you have concerns about your child’s labs, you may phone us at 438-8400 or contact us through the Patient Portal. These calls or e-mails will normally be addressed within 24-48 hours, Monday -Friday. Questions about lab and radiology results are not addressed on the Patient Portal on the weekends until the following Monday.

Appointments (412-8184):

If you need an appointment, please go to the Patient Portal and request an appointment time, two or more days in the future or call this number for an appointment within 24 hours. 

Cancellations/Late arrivals (412-8184):

We require 24-hour advance notice if you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Failure to notify the office will result in a charge of $25.00. Please go to the Patient Portal to cancel and reschedule an appointment, if the appointment is two or more days in the future.  Please call if you are canceling or rescheduling within 24 to 48 hours of the appointment.  If you are more than 15-minutes late to your appointment, we may have to reschedule you to another time that day or to another day, in order to provide patients who do arrive on time a prompt visit.  

School or Work Excuses:

If you need a work excuse or your child needs a school absence note, please let the medical assistant know during your visit.

Medical Records (412-8184):

If you need a copy of your medical records forwarded to another provider, you must complete a Release of Medical Records form at the office or the website or we can e-mail it to you if you request it from the Patient Portal.  This is required to assure your confidentiality and to meet federal regulations.  Please allow at least 7 working days to complete the copying.  The fee normally charged will be based on the amount of copies required.  

Emergency and After-Hours Care:

If your child has an urgent or sudden illness related to the gastrointestinal problem that they’re being seen for in this office, please contact the office by phone or the Patient Portal.  An appointment will be scheduled or we will return your call or e-mail back to you to answer any questions.  If they have an illness for which they’re not being seen for in this clinic, please contact their primary care provider.  If your child requires emergency treatment or is in a life-threatening situation, please dial “911" immediately.

Appointment Basics: 

We will try to see your child as close to the scheduled time as possible.  At times, schedules may be affected by emergencies or longer than expected visits.  We will do our best to keep you on schedule.  You will be asked to sign the sign-in sheet and you will be given forms to fill out.  On the first visit, the New Patient History forms will be quite extensive, but contains a lot of important information I need to know about your child.  Other forms that will need to be completed on the first visit are New Patient Registration form, New Patient Non-Payment form, New Patient Health Information and Privacy Policy (HIPPA) form, as well as Release of Medical Records form. If this is a follow-up visit, a Follow-Up Visit form will need to be filled out related to symptoms that your child has had since the last visit and current medications your child is taking. All of these forms are available in this website and can be filled out prior to your visit, which will decrease your waiting time in the clinic. Please print the forms, fill them out and bring them to your visit. Your child will be taken into an examination room according to your scheduled time.  We will ask that the child be disrobed and then weighed, a height taken and temperature taken.  For your child’s appointment, please bring: (1) All medications your child is taking, (2) Any medical records that your physician has given you for your child’s gastroenterology consultation visit (3) Insurance cards and (4) co-payment.  

Scheduling Procedures and Tests: 

Your child may be scheduled for various tests at the completion of the visit.  These may include breath tests, which are typically scheduled for a later time and will be done in this office. Upper and lower endoscopies are either scheduled at this office or at Children’s Hospital depending on your child’s age and are scheduled for a separate day.  pH probe studies and manometry studies are not done in this office and are scheduled for another day. Radiology exams are also scheduled for later times then the current office visit and are done at various facilities in the Fresno area, depending on your health insurance plan.  Laboratory tests are also done at various labs in the area (this office does not do routine laboratory tests) and can be done immediately following your visit.  You will be provided with an order form before you leave the office or the orders will be sent to the lab electronically.  For breath tests, pH probes, manometries, endoscopic procedures and many radiology exams, prior authorization from your insurance is required before these tests and procedures can be scheduled. Insurance authorizations may take 1-7 days. 

Billing Office: 

Questions related to billing services can be answered by dialing (559) 412-8184. You can also ask billing questions on the Patient Portal. You are responsible for supplying all appropriate billing information including insurance, identification and the correct insurance billing address.  Please notify us if there are any changes in your phone number, insurance or address.  

Education for Parents: 

Please go to this website for patient education resource website links and handouts.  I would recommend the American Academy of Pediatrics website as well as the North American Society of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition website for up-to- date accurate information about all aspects of pediatrics and pediatric gastroenterology and nutrition. In addition you will find web links to websites dealing with support groups for inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome, celiac disease and gastroesophageal reflux disease.  You will find these web links on this website under Websites for Medical Information.  Also located on the website are handouts, which can be downloaded from your computer on various subjects of nutrition and gastroenterology, as well as how to prepare for

gastrointestinal procedures.
